Last week we headed to The Stones (that’s Stonehenge if you’re not local) with a group of other home educating families. To be honest, I went there as much for me as for my Mr almost-5. Give me an ancient monument over an art gallery any day, that’s me.

The day started off being grey and drizzly, but as we travelled from Stonehenge to West Kennet Long Barrow (the highlight of the day for the kids – who needs standing stones when you can explore a 5000 year old burial tomb) and finally to Avebury, the skies cleared up and we were greeted with the most glorious setting sun. Very appropriate as we explored the largest stone circle in Europe.

Here is a selection of my favourite photographs from the day.
