On the day of the shoot the weather wasn’t cooperating. It was drizzling on and off, but it couldn’t wipe the smile off Kelly’s face. “That’s actually great as it shows what’s an actual day of a personal trainer is like, it’s often raining and we exercise in all weather”.

We had a blast photographing her with clients in Ashtead and Bookham and I’m so very pleased with the results. I’ll leave it to Kelly to tell you the rest of the story.

Where does your passion for fitness comes from? How did you get started with your business?

I have always been really into fitness and was part of a running club from a young age and ran for the borough and county, at the age of 18 I fell into an office job working as an event organiser which was great but not my passion. At the age of 22 (I am now 35) I took a year out to travel the world, it was a real adventure and running became my way of exploring.

I ran in every country I visited – Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand’s, Fiji, America and Mexico and returned a year later In the best shape of my life and dreaded going back to work in an office.

On returning I decided to go back and study and started a three month intensive course to become a personal trainer. Then I worked part time in a gym and started to build my business, Kelly Feeney Personal Training: Keep Focused, Keep Fit. I work long hours but loved every minute of it!

Earning money from my passion was a dream come true! Over the years I studied a lot more and gained my sports massage and did a 1 year master trainer award in special populations course allowing me to work with pre- and post pregnancy clients, elderly clients and people with illnesses and injuries!

How do you juggle motherhood and business?

I won’t lie and say it’s been easy, this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do! Being a mummy is the most important thing to me and my children are my world but keeping my business has always been important to me.

I have two beautiful children Toby and Francesca who are now 7 and 3. The hardest thing for me was having to go back to work so early after having them, but I didn’t want to lose my business! Looking back now I can honestly say it’s only become easier in the last year or so. I never wanted my work to affect my children so spent the first year of both of their lives working early mornings and very late nights and weekends giving me time in the day with them and then my husband or parents with them while I was working.

The plus side is now the kids are so proud of me and love what mummy does and occasionally come to work with me to see what I do .

How did our photoshoot go? Were you nervous about having me follow you around for 2 hours?

At first we were very aware of the photos being taken but Antonina was so lovely and we ended up just chatting and working as normal and it just felt really natural. I really love the end result, the photographs portray what I do perfectly! I have fun in what I do as well as woking hard and this totally comes across in the photos!
