Ahead of the photoshoot, Matilda’s mum told me that she struggles to capture images of her daughter that encapsulate her personality, and that’s one thing she’d love to be able to get out of our photoshoot – to have photographs that capture her the way she sees her.
As a mother myself, I know the struggle really well. It’s difficult to be the parent and the photographer at the same time.
Matilda was a little shy at first, but as soon as I asked her to show me her favourite toys and warmed up and led me upstairs to her room that was full of soft toys and her amazing drawings on the walls. When she climbed into her bed and proceeded to sing “Let It Go!” at the top of her lungs I knew I had the perfect picture that summed up her personality right there!
Following some time playing at home, we headed to Wisley Gardens – somewhere the family goes regularly for walks. The gardens were full of spring blooms, and the sun was out in full force, and we captured some wonderful images of Matilda and her parents playing and exploring. I can’t wait to share more images from this session in the weeks to come!
