My photography sessions are a relaxed experience, time for you to spend as a family, reconnect and enjoy being together. Trust me, and just let go.
I take a lot of candid photographs, capturing your family’s interactions, allowing you to talk, laugh, play, cuddle, tickle, kiss, ride a bicycle, roll in the grass or just run around. I really try to get to know you before your photography session and thanks to my natural ability to to relate to people I can put even the most camera-shy person at ease.
Booking your photography session
I pride myself on giving each and every client individual attention and the best service possible. Because of that (and also because I actually want to spend some time with my son before he hits his teens and doesn’t want to talk to me anymore) I only take a limited number of commissions each month. Weekends tend to book out 2-3 months in advance, so if you have a particular date or season in mind, please get in touch as early as you can to avoid disappointment.
Once we settled on a date for your portrait session and you’ve paid the session fee, we will schedule a telephone consultation (or, if you’re local to East/West Molesey, we can meet for a coffee and a chat) to discuss your requirements in detail, and to talk through any questions you might have. At that time, we will also confirm the time and the location for your portrait session.
On the day of your portrait session
Most of my family photography sessions take place in the morning, as it is when the children are at their best (and so is the light!). There will be no rush; we will have the whole morning to capture a variety of images, and we can photograph in both your home and outdoors, for example a local park that you frequent as a family. Some of my clients like to choose more urban backdrops, such as Southbank or the backstreets of Hampstead for their photography session. Others like to engage in an activity, for example picking fruit and veg at a PYO farm or a morning out exploring the woods. There are really no limits to what we can do, as long as it makes you happy and the kids enjoy it!
Because we shoot on location or at your home, children are much more relaxed than they would be in a studio environment, and we will have plenty of time to take breaks, have a snack or just play a little without my lens aimed at them. Without the pressure to perform in a limited time slot, children are much more willing to cooperate!
To create the most natural photographs and let the real smiles shine through, I use very little direction during a family photography session. Instead, I ask you to just interact naturally, play with your children, be engaged, be their play buddy.
If it rains on the day of your session, we can still go ahead and photograph indoors and jump in the puddles outdoors, or we can reschedule your session for another date. Either way, I am always monitoring the weather forecast and should the sun gods decide against us, I will be in touch to discuss the game plan.
After your portrait session
Within 3 weeks of your portrait session I will be in touch to let you know the photographs are ready. We will then schedule a viewing and ordering appointment where I will present you with your photographs and and guide you through the product options. The ordering appointment takes place at your home at a convenient time (usually after the kids are in bed!).
If you live outside London or Surrey, the photographs will be available to you to view and order via a secure online gallery.
Once your order is placed, it will take between 3-6 weeks for the final products to arrive (fine art albums take longer, for example). If you’re on a deadline, it’s best to let me know before you book your session, so I can advice you what’s feasible.
An enjoyable experience
I know how hectic life is, especially with the kids around. My aim is to make your experience as smooth as possible, but also to help you relax and just pause and enjoy your time together. And remember this time through the photographs, not let it disappear in a blur of the first 10 years of your child’s life.
If you’d like me to photograph your family in London, Surrey or further afield, please get in touch via the contact form. I am looking forward to meeting you and your wonderful family!
“We wholeheartedly recommend Antonina. She skilfully drifted between actively entertaining the kids to blending into the background and catching what felt like private moments. She succeeded in capturing the personalities of my children perfectly. Her energy and attention to detail was notable from the introductory phone call to the personal delivery of the final frames and albums. We are very happy with the final product and enjoyed every step of the process.” – Christie and Stuart
